Hi, I'm Bonnie

I stumbled into writing after retiring to pursue a new venture. Since I started writing, I am now convinced that writing is God’s purpose for my life. I am joy-filled, peaceful and enthusiastic as I write – filled with the same emotions my characters are experiencing, and asking God to equip me with the capability to express those emotions through the story. My prayer is that readers will be blessed with an enjoyable, encouraging, inspiring and satisfying story.

Bonnie is a mother, grandmother, mentor, and writer, who resides in the Houston, Texas area where writing is her second career. She is surprised that God has called her into a writing ministry, but knows She is also a retired Community Relations Consultant who resides in the Houston, Texas area. She is a graduate of Arkansas A.M. & N. College, Pine Bluff, Arkansas (which has since become the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff).

She writes from a foundation of Christian principles from the Word of God, life experiences and observations. Her stories are centered around real relative life issues that readers can easily identify with. She is driven by a heartfelt desire to encourage, inspire and motivate others to keep looking to Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of their faith. Her stories ring with the fundamental message and assurance that when a chapter closes in our lives, we can trust God for a new beginning because in Him there is always a hope and a future.

In addition to writing, and the numerous tasks associated with a writing career, Bonnie serves in her church, volunteers, and recently began a fulfilling endeavor as mentor and coach to a group of aspiring writers and others who just want to be inspired to pursue their God-given gifts.

Bonnie’s debut novel, “Seasons”, was released in October, 2005. It has made several best-seller lists, and has been a blessing to countless readers - many of whom admit to reading the book over and over. She expects no less from her recently released, stirring novel, Now and Then, Again. She is prayerful that her subsequent books will have the same effect.

Bonnie Reveals her Passion at Black Pearls Magazine

by Ella Curry of Black Pearl's Magazine

Ella: Tell us about your passion for writing.
I basically stumbled into writing after retiring to pursue a new venture.

Ella: Bonnie, give us the synopsis of the book being discussed today.
The title of the book is “Now and Then, Again”. Just as Savannah Sinclair begins to savor her new beginning, which includes taking a chance on a new relationship, a devastating demand from the past sends her reeling with shock. She is challenged to WALK her Christian TALK.

Book Preview: Now, Then and Again

The Good Stuff Oftentimes many of us are held victims of our past because of unresolved issues. We attempt to begin a new chapter in our lives without completely closing the door to the previous chapter and thus we end up constantly taking two steps forward and one step backwards. This is what happened to Savannah Sinclair in Bonnie Hopkins' new release, Now and Then, Again.

The tranquility Savannah Sinclair expected with early retirement proves to be just a fantasy. Her troubling reality unfolds in dawn to dust demands by others with their own agendas.

As Vann works to recapture control of her crazy, out of control life, wonderful, exciting things begin to happen, including, just maybe… the chance for a new relationship with a man who stirs promises of renewal to long faded hopes.

But just as she begins to savor these new things, a devastating plea for help, issued by an unlikely person from her past, sends her reeling from shock. She is forced to face some ugly truths about herself when she is challenged to actually walk the Christian talk she has so proudly professed. Strongholds, unforgiveness, hurt, anger, and fear crawled out of deeply buried ruts in her soul, and knocked her off of her Christian pedestal. The desire to give in to the grasping rut occupants was so overwhelming that it tempted her to wallow in their muck and mire. In helpless dismay, she realized that her wonderful new beginning was being threatened, as the rut occupants triumphantly mocked her failure in the ultimate tests of love, faith and forgiveness.

However, God always has a plan, and what often appear to be dead-end situations He will prove to be new beginnings in astonishing new directions. But will Vann open her heart enough to discover God’s power to reach into yesterday and bring restoration, renewal and redemption into today? Will she trust God enough to discover that nothing is over until HE says it’s over?

An intriguing story that will bless in exciting ways, and challenge readers to examine and escape their own ruts of life!

Michelle Stimpson Bonnie Hopkins is a retired Community Relations Consultant who resides in the Houston, Texas area. She is a graduate of Arkansas A.M. & N. College, Pine Bluff, Arkansas (which has since become the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff). She is also a mother, grandmother, godmother, prayer intercessor, encourager, teacher, mentor, helper, friend and writer.

Writing is Bonnie’s second career. (A testimony to the fact that God always has another plan and purpose for our lives). No one is more surprised than she, that God has called her into a writing ministry. But she does know why, and her writing poignantly reflects that. She writes from a foundation of Christian principles from the Word of God, life experiences and observations. Her stories are centered around real, relative life issues that readers can easily identify with. She is driven by a heartfelt desire to encourage, inspire and motivate others to keep looking to Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of their faith.
